Sean Rzewnicki is an upright and electric bassist from Chicago, Illinois. Performing Jazz, Classical, Rock, Blues, Pop, R&B, Rockabilly, Folk & Country music. After developing a career as a performer and educator in Los Angeles (2009-2020), Sean spent a year in Seoul, South Korea before moving back to Chicago in 2021. Currently Sean is pursuing his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies at Northern Illinois University and is performing and teaching in Chicago-land.
Sean loves performing and has done so regularly with the Frontline Quartet, True Luck Trio and his project the Lemona Jazz Quartet in LA. He has recorded and toured with The Evening Guests, Elodie and the Free Notion, Stumpwaller, Toy District and Phat Cat Swinger. Sean has also performed with many big bands including The Battle of the Big Bands, CSUN Jazz A Band, NIU Jazz Orchestra and The Christian McBride Big Band. Additionally, Sean has experience in musical theater, opera and orchestral settings.
Sean has been immersed in collegiate musical study since 2009, earning his Associates degree from the Musicians Institute (2011), AA Degree in music from Los Angeles City College (2016) and Bachelors Degree in Jazz Studies at California State University, Northridge (2020). Currently, Sean is working on his graduate degree at Northern Illinois State University (2021-23).
Sean is excited to be back in Illinois and become an active part of the Chicago-land music scene!
